Roundabouts are the reason there's free flowing traffic in the area.Right - a quick google suggests that the cycle lanes are part of a wider plan to link services and amenities in the area more safely for pedestrians and cyclists. They will also be removing roundabouts etc. Link here:

Looking at it quickly it doesn't seem that they are trying to link that area to the rest of the city, they are trying to link facilities, schools etc along the route. Young families living there and near by would be more likely to get on their bikes and cycle to basketball training, school, swimming, soccer matches for whatever if the infrastructure was better for themHow do they get to that 1km stretch? All hills - there's no one that's a leisurely cyclist or hobbie cyclist that can get to that route. Nevermind kids.
Fact.
Im not commenting one way or the other, just pointing out that it is part of a bigger plan and not just about one stretch of road and a random cycle laneRoundabouts are the reason there's free flowing traffic in the area.
The current footpaths are safe for pedistrians (minus street lights)
I'm not being smart but it's not possible to link to the city or even to facilities to be honest. Pick two facilities - Leisureworld at the top of the hill or Neptune end of Blackpool.Looking at it quickly it doesn't seem that they are trying to link that area to the rest of the city, they are trying to link facilities, schools etc along the route. Spot on. Cycle lanes ideally are all interconnected but where that’s not possible it shouldn’t prevent cycle lanes in a locality linking facilities and amenities in that locality.Looking at it quickly it doesn't seem that they are trying to link that area to the rest of the city, they are trying to link facilities, schools etc along the route. No I don't to be honest with you and gave my reason above.Im not commenting one way or the other, just pointing out that it is part of a bigger plan and not just about one stretch of road and a random cycle lane
Do you think the bigger plan has merit?

Remove car parking spaces is their man issue. Hiding behind trees is to give the illusion that they care about the environment.Yes let's dig up an entire road, remove car parking spaces, and cut down a load of trees so a kid can cycle 60 seconds across knockpogue Ave to training or swinming safely, because obviously the same 5 min walk would be too strenuous. Well worth it![]()
