The Rangers FC (2012)

Their team naturally had celebrations at ibrox to celebrate winning the SPFL convincingly this week. They went undefeated in the league which is some achievement. And over the season they were easily the best team. While many would have been surprised at the selection of Gerrard as Manager of the Year - St Johnston on a shoe-string budget by comparison have won the League Cup and are in the Cup Final, there's no doubting that the The Rangers keeper McGregor has been a worthy winner of Player of the Year.

But, their team that rightly objected when they said Kamara had been a victim of racist abuse by a European opponent recently, were to be seen at a party within ibrox, loudly singing "add ons" to Sweet Caroline which included "F**k the Pope".

Now as you know I'm not really an organised religion kinda person, and yer man in Rome can see after himself, but methinks they won't be able to sweep this one under the carpet.

In the wake of the mayhem hundreds of their fans caused in Glasgow over the weekend, fighting each other, fighting police, public drinking and urinating, a lot of vandalism, shops having to shut etc it's unlikely that official Scotland will turn a blind eye for much longer.
Even the Covid regulations in Glasgow were completely ignored when thousands of their fans took to the streets and not a mask in sight.

Clubs can try distance themselves from outrageous behaviour of their fans, even fans who have a track record for this kind of violent misbehaviour, but it'll be difficult for even the SFA to turn a blind eye to what went on at the official team party within Ibrox.

Fans of a big British club making an absolute show of themselves shocker.

Spare the faux outrage m8.

A 24 point deduction* would be adequate punishment.

Celtic still second.

Accept the season as the write off that it was and hope Celtic get their own shit in order.

You clearly haven't seen the video evidence of what went on.
This goes far beyond the usual large football club yobbery.

I've acknowledged already in the post that TRFC were worthy winners of the league this season - by far the best team in the division. But you miss the point completely.

Could you imagine say Liverpool PLAYERS inside Anfield celebrating a league victory by doing the "ManU ManU up in an aeroplane" song; or Arsenal PLAYERS in the Emirates going "Hsssssssssss" about Spurs or the like.
I certainly couldn't.

Yobbish behaviour by yobs in common, though what the The Rangers fans got up to in downtown Glasgow went way beyond yer football yobishness again.

BUT sectarian behaviour by PLAYERS at an club official function in their stadium is not a common occurrence and it's a bit silly to try the old "move along, nothing to see here" routine in 2021, especially when the self same club were (correctly imho) loud in their shouts to UEFA about one of their players being racially abused just a few weeks ago. Said player was involved in that sectarian singing over the weekend btw.

"Nicola Sturgeon has blasted “rampaging” Rangers fans for marching en masse through Glasgow yesterday and for the violent scenes that followed.

The Ibrox club were presented with the Scottish Premiership trophy after beating Aberdeen 4-0 and thousands of fans took to the streets in celebration despite Covid restrictions.

Footage has since emerged of fights between supporters taking place and missiles being thrown at police as they tried to contain the situation.

And the First Minister has today hit out at the decision to take to the streets when Covid cases are on the rise in Glasgow, to the extent that the city will remain in level three as others have their restrictions eased from Monday."

"Three police officers have been injured after disorder broke out at George Square as Rangers supporters celebrated their title win.

Officers had 'missiles and flares' thrown at them as they were attempting to disperse crowds and tackling anti-social behaviour throughout the day.

More than 20 people have been arrested as a result of the disorder which has been described as 'disgraceful' and a danger to the public.

Officers dressed in full public order equipment moved in to tackle the crowds which became 'increasingly disorderly' as celebrations went on resulting in property being damaged and people being assaulted.

Police Scotland has condemned the behaviour which they have said placed officers at risk and damaged Glasgow's reputation as a 'great city' at a critical point in the pandemic.

Chief Superintendent Mark Sutherland has warned that more arrests are expected as enquiries into the disorder continue with anyone involved in the 'ugly scenes' facing being identified and arrested."

Check online videos lads. Mass brawls amongst themselves. TRFC fans throwing bottles at other TRFC fans. Various items thrown at the police who stood by and watched the mayhem for a long time. Various shops in Glasgow city centre having to close.

If that's your idea of how to actually celebrate, knock yerselves out.
