ShorttY is the biz - training away with the National Centre squad (Cassin, Corby, Walshe, etc.) in UL while still only in school. There was a stage last year where he broke the Irish junior records every time he looked at a pool. Top athlete.
Hopefully he can continue to kick on and improve - all indicators are positive. Assuming he got the points in the LC today, he has a scholarship spot to continue at UL.
 
1:56! 😮 That's serious clipping for a Leaving Cert student.

200m backstroke has shown a bit of evolution in the past few years - Shortt would have easily made the 2024 Olympic final with that time. However, he wouldn't have made the final at in Singapore at the senior Worlds this year. Time was, 1:54 guaranteed you a World senior medal, now you need to be thinking 1:53.XX.

He's a real talent though - great attitude too, let's hope he can make the transition to senior.
 
Ryaner hangs up the goggles- decent career he had and was a huge part of John Rudd getting a decent high performance program up and running in Ireland.
Swim Ireland’s decision to exclude times achieved at the 2024 Euros robbed him of a Paris spot in the 100 free. He got there on the backstroke and the relay but deserved his shot at the blue riband.
