The Official Spurs thread

For the Rennes game they need 13 available from the ECL A list squad including a keeper and they must fulfil the fixture - a fixture they HAVE to win.

For Brighton - there is precedence for games being postponed but if it is no more than 4-6 first team players it is likely they will be made to meet the fixture.

Gil and Emerson were out for the game on Sunday presumably that is now known to be Covid.
Son, Davies, Romero and one other are thought be the other 4 cases, Romero is out but the other 3 ar thought to be first teamers.

You'd think they will be made to play both fixtures.

I’d say the wider point is that lots of matches might be called off if Omicron takes hold.

Also while the rest of Europe is implementing precautions Boris is telling bewildered companies to have parties which they’re not doing, but football grounds are packed twice a week.

The man is an absolute gobshite.

They aren't happy

Following the press release issued by Tottenham at 9 p.m. this Wednesday, Stade Rennais F.C. would like to clarify the following facts. During a videoconference held at 7:45 p.m. between representatives of UEFA, Tottenham and SRFC, the Spurs football director announced her intention not to play the UEFA Europa Conference League match on Thursday evening. Unilateral decision that has in no way been confirmed by UEFA.

Tottenham's representative did not want to announce the number of her players affected by Covid while the rule stipulates that a match must be played as long as the team has 13 field players and a goalkeeper.

It argued a decision of the English authorities without putting forward any official document. As the match was not officially cancelled by UEFA, Stade Rennais F.C. maintained its decision to play.

Faced with this "London fog", SRFC reserves the right to refer the matter to UEFA. This lack of fair play is all the more blatant since Tottenham confirmed by email the holding of the game in the early afternoon before warning Rennes of his intention not to play just after landing in London City.

In fairness to Rennes , they have a point.
Judging by the Conte press conference held through Zoom, the numbers are growing by the day, they've shut down the Training facilities and expect the number to mean they wouldn't have 13 including a keeper from the ECL A list.

Wouldn't be surprised if they end up having to forfeit.

Sure how bad, Thursdays off in the Spring.
Brighton is probably off too and I wouldn't be surprised if they try and get out of Leicester.
The fixture pile up considering the Burnley snow off will be unreal.

UEFA have so far said nothing about the game tonight - considering Rennes will top the group, they might be ok with it - but there is a deadline with the draw etc and I don't think Spurs will be able to field a team in time at the rate things are going.
