The Official Spurs thread

No, but I think Spurs are well beyond the stage of instant impact from anybody.

The squad needs major surgery.

de Zerbi may well manage the situation better than Tudor but still get relegated.
I think given the circumstances and time of the season they have done well to get a coach of his pedigree in the door.

Do they still have a good few players injured?

FWIW I hope Spurs do stay up, a big club with a good history they need to be in the PL.

Are ya joking m8? The words "good" and "few" are reversable in that question. The answer to both would be yes.

NO club needs to be in the pl, if you're so crap that you get relegated then you deserve to NOT be in the top flight

that applies to liverpool, spurs, utd, arsenal, etc .... anyone

Agree. He might not be the ideal guy to keep them (...but who is?) but if he does keep them up I could see a significant positive bounceback next season

Only 6 players definitivey not available for the Sunderland game. Gentle progress...

Only if there's some sort of recruitment revolution

I get why you'd have that opinion, given the clusterf*ck that is this season.

...and I appreciate that the squad has some holes to fill (...and there'll be at least 5 of the players below who will be out the door in the summer)

But there's still a fair amount of talent there, once everyone is back fit.

Even with the noted injury issues Spurs should be nowhere near relegation this season.

They have too many midfielders who run about a lot but aren't masters at advancing the ball.

This was known last Summer but they took Palhinha on loan instead of dealing with it.

Then they bought Conor Gallagher in January instead of dealing with it.

Braindead.

Agree. But it's not the absolute hardest problem to solve - and once you've got someone who can reliably & accurately get the ball into the final third there's a lot of quality there (Kuluvseski, Simons, Kudus, Solanke - not an oil painting but would be a fairly productive PL #9 with the right service).

Just feels to me like it wouldn't be a mountain to climb...but all bets are off if they bomb out of the league in a few weeks time.

You say that, but both Spurs and Man United, for two examples, have completely mismanaged midfield recruitment for years.

It doesn't seem to be so easy for some clubs for whatever reason, when the most casual observer can see it with their eyes closed.
