Man utd 1974 Denis Law playing for city with a back heeled goal to seal their fate, Even bigger again Leeds utd 2004,

Was Leeds in 2004 a big one? I suppose only a few seasons earlier they'd been in the Champions League semi final. Crazy to think of that now.

For some reason I can name nearly that whole Leeds team off the top of my head. Schwarzer, Kelly, Woodgate, Bowyer, Ferdinand, Harte, Keane, Viduka, Kewell, Smith

I remember in school at the height of their peak you were either a Leeds fan or a Man United fan. Or if you were me, an Ipswich Town fan.

Would this be the biggest ever relegation in football?

Sure it was Leeds 03/04, when you balance out status of the team & impact of relegation?

Big team. Playing European football. Finished in top 5 twice in previous 3 seasons.

Massive debt and on top of that it was a couple of years prior to the more chunky parachute payments system coming in

...so when their solidarity payments stopped they were competing against relegates teams who were on far bigger payments.

Fell to league 1. Almost a bit surprising that they've managed to claw their way back up.

Scwarzer? It was Nigel Martyn and when he was injured Paul robinson,

On his day he was incredible, great touch. Strong, great finisher, some days he didn't look interested. Kewell had immense talent but all went downhill.

Kewell was the real star if I remember correctly, what happened that made things go downhill? I know he went to Liverpool but I don't remember his time there really

Irish manager in David O'Leary at the time too, there was a serious connection
