I have never had a meal in Il Padrino that I felt I couldn't have made an equal or better version of myself. Which would be grand if it was cheap and cheerful but it was really dear.

I think that about a lot of Italian places to be honest,

Pasta dishes in particular are fairly easy to replicate at home and even better than restaurants if you go with premium ingredients.

I have to say I’ve had a different experience. Granted, I used only ever used go in there when they were doing a lunch special of pizza and a drink for a tenner. That’s going back 6-7 years at this stage. Always found the pizza to be lovely.

I was passing Padrinos years ago and he was having a shouting match on the street in English with this Spanish or Italian one whom he was seemingly just after firing. All I can remember of the conversation was him "you called me fucking asshole!"
