Gusto for breakfast is still top drawer both in terms of quality and value. It absolutely destroys the likes of Farmgate - the lads in Gusto can cook an egg the way you ask for it.

Last two visits , I got the same thing; haloumi on sourdough with pesto, aubergine, tomato and peppers - start-to-finish delicious. €9.50

They do a basic scrambled egg with toast that is bang-on perfect every time and almost Proustian in the flashbacks to childhood that it gave me. €7.50

Coffee is excellent also.

The stools and benches will fucking CRIPPLE you though.

I was at The Anglers Rest for a family thing a couple of weeks ago. In fairness it’s a lovely setting but the service and food need to improve. Third time there and two not great experiences out of the three. Don’t think I’ll be going back anytime soon.

I dined in Eala Bhan in Sligo a few nights ago.

It's quite upmarket, the type of place most of the proles on here will never experience, so I'm very generously sharing some photos here.

The bottle of prosecco was sent over compliments of the owner, who is a friend of mine. I don't drink Prosecco so I gave most of the bottle to this couple at a table near us. They were delighted and I was hoping it might open the door to a foursome or something, but alas.

The food was 10/10. My starter was scallops with pork belly. Mains was a duo of sea trout and sea bream, with a saffron risotto. Dessert was a chocolate and hazelnut dome.

Total price came to €0.00. It pays to know the owner. Would recommend.

My wife lines the pot with parchment paper. Absolutely no mess that way.

Just do it in a bowl in the microwave.
You have to stir it every 10 to 20 seconds at the end with a fork but it's easy, one bowl to clean and tastes the exact same.
