The Official PROC Restaurant review thread.

Went to Mantra on princes st again last night. It’s the best Indian food you will get in Cork and it’s not even close.

The vegetable bhajis and duck tandoori starters are worth the trip alone, I went for butter chicken absolutely tops.

3 of us got 2 starters to share, 3 mains, 2 rice, 2 naan bread and 6 beers. 122 euro ex tip, exceptional value and very nice staff who we had good fun with.

Place is full every night apparently so booked ahead, The only show in town for Indian food.
Went to Mantra on Sunday

I second this, great grub the vegetable bhajias is one of the better dishes we've had all year.

I had the tandoori lamb shank which was wonderful. Garlic flavoured and succulent with fired pilau and organ josh with a yogurt dip..lovely meal.

Missus had a prawn thing was was tasty but too hot for her. the flavour was there though if perhaps not the balance (a spoon of the yogurt stuff helped)

So top of the class for grub.

Service was shite was the only thing. we had a reservation for 19:15 and weren't seated till 19:35. probably marathon related but that.is annoying. They also forgot the water had to ask 3 times and we had about 25 mins or so between courses. Shit happens like. At least they acknowledged it but no round of drinks or anything like that.

It's decent value 91 Euro ex tip for 2 mains, 1 starter and 4 beers.

Grub is certainly good enough for me to get over my crib about service it's way better than Thali Nepal or Eastern Tandori

It’s brilliant isn’t it? I had that lamb tandoori on my first visit it’s excellent.

In fairness on both occasions I was there I thought the service was excellent so maybe just a bad night for them, someone could have been missing etc which fucks everyone else on the team.

For quality, value and it’s a nice place inside it’s hard bait one of my favourite spots in town

Ye should try the Thali 😀

Any recommendations for a decent restaurant down Skibbereen direction? And is the West Cork hotel a good place to stay?
West Cork Hotel is a grand and cosy old school hotel.

Not fancy but comfortable with a better than decent breakfast.

The Algiers in Baltimore is good for tortillas and the like

Budds in Ballydehob is solid too.

I'm not mad about Church it's grand like they play the hits and nothing wrong with it

Dillons Corner is poor enough in my opinion

Crusty is right about baba de

I think yourself and crusty might have mentioned baba de on here before as it sounds familiar.

Might stay in Casey’s of Baltimore instead, don’t want to have to drive to head out.

On a separate note I was in the golden elephant on mccurtain st recently and they have a very short menu compared with Douglas. The Mrs liked the duck she got but the crab I had was very strong in flavour and not something I would go for again. Have gone to the one in Douglas multiple times and always quality grub!
