Went to Mantra on SundayWent to Mantra on princes st again last night. It’s the best Indian food you will get in Cork and it’s not even close.
The vegetable bhajis and duck tandoori starters are worth the trip alone, I went for butter chicken absolutely tops.
3 of us got 2 starters to share, 3 mains, 2 rice, 2 naan bread and 6 beers. 122 euro ex tip, exceptional value and very nice staff who we had good fun with.
Place is full every night apparently so booked ahead, The only show in town for Indian food.
I second this, great grub the vegetable bhajias is one of the better dishes we've had all year.
I had the tandoori lamb shank which was wonderful. Garlic flavoured and succulent with fired pilau and organ josh with a yogurt dip..lovely meal.
Missus had a prawn thing was was tasty but too hot for her. the flavour was there though if perhaps not the balance (a spoon of the yogurt stuff helped)
So top of the class for grub.
Service was shite was the only thing. we had a reservation for 19:15 and weren't seated till 19:35. probably marathon related but that.is annoying. They also forgot the water had to ask 3 times and we had about 25 mins or so between courses. Shit happens like. At least they acknowledged it but no round of drinks or anything like that.
It's decent value 91 Euro ex tip for 2 mains, 1 starter and 4 beers.
Grub is certainly good enough for me to get over my crib about service it's way better than Thali Nepal or Eastern Tandori
