The Official PROC Restaurant review thread.

I'm going to the Thady Inn tomorrow night for the first time.

I've heard so much about this place, is it worth the hype? Apparently they old sell steak and if you want fish you've to call a day in advance?
It's the 1970s called and wants its restaurant back.

I've never heard fish as an option. Normally they have one hot main course, sirloin steak.

I like it but haven't been out there in a year. I have the beef soup starter and the steak which comes with a bowl of chunky chips, a bowl of fried onions and a side salad with butter head lettuce.

Lovely meal in the Thady Inn last night. It literally is just steak, when they take your order they don't ask what you want, they just ask you how you'd like it cooked.

They brought down lovely chips and salad to go with it, and whenever the bowl was half empty they'd come along with more. Great service, very homely.

It's a really cosy pub, it feels like you're in Heartbeat or Midsomer Murders.

We went to Hickey's of Aherla afterwards for refreshments and had the absolute honour of doing the draw for the Canovee GAA weekly lottery. I didn't win.

I had lunch in the Lee Valley Golf Club today. Never even heard of the place until this morning.

What a feckin operation they are running, amazing place. Beautiful setting, lovely bar and restaurant and top class food.

I'd the salmon and two pints of Guinness. There were 40 of us having lunch and it seemed there was as many staff, they were very attentive.

I was seriously impressed by this place. It was made even better as I was in the company of Tim O'Riordan of Langer Song fame.

9.2/10

Great reviews Mo. Thady Inn is a mighty spot. Not one for the fancy crowd but good grub in a nice atmosphere and the staff are sound.

The pint in the castlemore arms up the road is absolutely savage by the way, i’d always go there for a quart first.

Lee Valley is a great spot. Loads of wealth in that area so those places are doing a flying regular trade.

There’s a grand pizza truck outside the spreading chestnut these days i think so that can be the supper sorted.

It's a funny one, there is serious wealth around there but I'd never think of wanting to live there if I had major coin. If I had a few million in the bank I'd be buying somewhere by the sea, not some rural suburb of Ballincollig.

Both Michael O'Flynn and Eugene Scally live around Ovens, they can afford far better than that surely like.

That golf club is amazing though, what a facility to have. I'll be going there again for sure.

There's a nice cafe near it too, WunderCafe or something like that.

Yeah i played in a gaa golf classic there and the amount of big successful local businesses advertised was unreal. All from the area.

There’s definitely 3 or 4 families out there worth €100m+ but they seem to want to live where they grew up.

I spose having luxury holiday homes in the likes Kerry and the Mediterranean is an ease to the problems of living in farran/ovens/aherla

Went down to Rostellen woods for a walk today, absolutely stunning forest for a Sunday stroll.

Afterwards we went into Rosie’s just beyond Rostellen, top class food.

I had a Korma special as the waitress recommended it based on the chef being Sri Lankan, it was unreal, washed down with a creamy pint of Murphy’s.

Herself had the feather blade of beef and her mother had a main course of chowder, I’ve never seen so much fish in a bowl it would feed 2 easily.

Staff we were sound and it was priced well for the quality and portions on offer.
