I've stayed in most of the main hotels in the city centre over the years. Nowadays, the prices are extortionate. Just had a quick look, the Premier Inn is 116 euro a night. That's probably about as good as you'll get. It does what it says on the tin anyway and location is excellent.Lads I've a flight out on a Saturday but want to stay overnight in the City on the Friday and have a meal out, where would you recommend to stay and dine? It's a birthday treat weekend so classy but not too expensive like.

Off-peak and pre-Covid, I stayed at both with breakfast for 110-120 a night. Now, you'd be looking at double that. That's some hike in just a few years.I used Covid as a chance to tick a few City hotels off my list. Obviously I've no reason to be staying in hotels a few minutes walk from home, but it was cool to stay in the Metropole and the Imperial. At the worst of Covid the Imperial were giving rooms away. I think it was €80 including a 5pm checkout, lol.
I got a free dinner out of it too because I lost my shit over something and complained at reception.
True and the vat situation doesn't help. If they got the discount would they pass it on? Probably notOff-peak and pre-Covid, I stayed at both with breakfast for 110-120 a night. Now, you'd be looking at double that. That's some hike in just a few years.
Do you know where I wouldn't recommend?
The South fucking County in Douglas.
I planned my whole day around the place today after seeing StuffYs post about their Christmas toastie.
Lunch served til 4. Nice one. Do my bits and bobs around home, get the 3pm bus out to Douglas, pick up dinner in M&S, and then head over to the SC for my toastie.
Get shown to my table, order a drink while I peruse the menu.
"Sorry, where are the toasties, I can't seem to find them on the menu."
"Oh, we aren't doing toasties during Christmas".
What in the name of actual fuck.
I'm actually angry. I'm going to have my latte and leave before I scream at someone.
Over to Douglas Shopping Centre and fucking Puccinos or somewhere for a toastie instead.
Fuck 2025. And you know what, fuck 2026 too. And fuck Sinn Fein.
You should’ve mentioned you know me from the internet, they would have made an exception.Do you know where I wouldn't recommend?
