Keane is entering into the category of saying whatever you want him to say and he'll get your soundbites for the social media too. However he's a bit freer on the Overlap. Still doesn't go in too hard on players especially the English but has definitley called out Neville and Wright for the "we love player X but.." that stops them from proper critiquing. After Maguire and Bruno I think Roy has stepped back from.over the top statements and is probably trying to find where the line is again.
Excellent stuff on Souness. He calls it as he sees it. I remember how he took John Terry apart on RTE in the 2010 WC after the player gave an interview saying who should be in the England team.
I think that Keano is held back by the constraints of the TV channels tbh. They don't want pundits to be too direct or controversial.
I think one of his first games was Ukraine vs Switzerland in a round of 16 Euros and Souness tried giving it the "its cagey, its tight, there's nerves " etc but then Dunphy went mad about how shite it was
Souness jumped back in like a man off the leash and said both teams should actually be booted out for it being such a poor game.
