The Official Premier League 2025/26 Thread

It's not bad, it's great watching these corners where it's more like a battle royal and Deccy Rice waving at every one for a minute before he kicks them.
Ok, but you see that quoting the number of goals scored is meaningless?

Did I see some part of that Ruud Gullit meltdown mentioning that teams deliberately play to get corners? He loses all credibility there.

It'll be grand, lads, things will evolve into something different.

No, it's not. Not if it ties with what we're seeing with our eyes about how fucking dire the football has been and having a royal rumble at every corner kick.

17.6% of goals have come from corners this season. That's the highest percentage ever

Probably. Because it's gotten so bad the football rule makers are trying to come up with new rules because of it.

I'm sure that's purely coincidental.

There's nothing wrong with more goals being scored from set pieces. Since the dawn of time, corners have been very inefficient in particular.

If the set pieces are imposing on ball in play time, or leading to foul play, then that's another matter.

Villa in absolute freefall lately. 4-1 down at home. Gonna be a really interesting run in for CL spots with most of them playing each other in the coming weeks.

Football, despite what Brenteta says should be entertaining.

The football in the premiership has been mostly garbage this season and last.

Now, I haven't counted the particular types of goals from corners be they well worked imaginative set pieces or just bullying goal keepers into submission, but I do know that watching players endlessly wrestling in the 6 yard box is not entertaining.

It's fucking shit.

Btw, the first half of Villa Chelsea was excellent. End to end stuff. Then Villa scored an excellent pacey break away goal, and of course VAR then ruled it out for the big toe offside.

Var is a huge part of the problem right now. They're bringing in rules to get the ball in play more, but VAR is as bad as anything for it

West ham win at Fulham, forest get a point at city, the final relegation place us a real dogfight, spurs and Leeds involved as well

Would have made it more interesting if forest lost. More of a battle for them to get out of relegation, I thought West Ham might haveManaged to stay up. City just blew their title chance tonight I think.
