The official opening and closing businesses thread

I played my last game of pool of the millennium in the Coliseum, NYE 1999, around 6pm. Fairly certain I won, too. Which is the important thing.

I remember it oh so well in the 1970s - when it catered to us down from CBC to play some pool - bucket pockets 😞 - known as being "down the gaff". My father (RIP) used tell me he used go to the Coliseum (The Col to him and his generation) to watch films - Charlie Chang detectives were one of his favourites that were screened there
You're getting mixed up Soundy (no shock there!). Leisureplex didn't open until the late '80's. The Gaff was Leisureworld which was a Gaming Arcade with a few pool tables. It was located a few doors further down McCurtain St, think it's a casino now.

I went there the night of my debs, killing time between having to leave the metropole and going for breakfast!

My friend was so drunk he managed to score a perfect strike in bowling... in the wrong lane. A feat I have never seen repeated ;-)
😳

Reminds me of a story two of my pals swear was true, they were in there early morning years and years ago and saw some ol doll shifting the face off a bloke - while dropping the hand on his pal😳. The lads said all three were clearly the worse for wear.

Not suggesting it’s you btw

Thought it was all knocked into one - Leisureworld becoming Leisureplex as part of a revamp and extension 🤷‍♂️

Never used the one armed bandits much tbh - mugs game
