I would much rather there be hotel beds available in the city to drive tourism then leave it to AirBnB to take housing stock off the market.
it's not as if these hoteliers are opening them on a whim, it's relatively easy to gauge supply and demand for domestic and international tourists.
Also hotels do a lot for the rest of the economy, nightlife, restaurants cafés. Much better than having derelict premises all over.
