What's wrong with hotels?

I would much rather there be hotel beds available in the city to drive tourism then leave it to AirBnB to take housing stock off the market.

it's not as if these hoteliers are opening them on a whim, it's relatively easy to gauge supply and demand for domestic and international tourists.

Also hotels do a lot for the rest of the economy, nightlife, restaurants cafés. Much better than having derelict premises all over.

A lot of that is down to a lack of competition I would have thought.

More beds means cheaper stays in theory.

All those beds taken off the market for IPAS and Ukrainians and homeless accommodation is really damaging to the economy.

Grand in an emergency but letting it become government long term policy was negligent
