Preseason game against Bath off over Covid.

Munster’s pre-season game against Bath at Thomond Park on Saturday, September 4 will not go ahead, as the Premiership club have confirmed they are unable to travel due to Covid-19.
While we understand that all of our supporters and partners will be disappointed at this news, the health and safety of all players, staff, and spectators continues to be our priority and we would like to thank Bath for their efforts in trying to facilitate this game during a challenging period.
Munster Rugby are reviewing the possibility of an alternative fixture opportunity for the same day in Thomond Park and an update will follow in due course.

United Rugby Championship fixtures announced

2 home games against South African sides to get the season started

Springboks players wont be back until round 3 due to Rugby Championship

Will Munster back a few of the younger players like F Wycherley, Ahern, Kendellen, Hodnett, Casey etc?

Also looking forward to seeing Zebo back in red. He has a big point to prove!

On the 4th two Munster XVs are playing against each for 60 minutes. Wouldn’t be running up the road to it but locals might fancy a look.

Hodnett isn’t back until October I think.
Casey has to start as first choice now, won’t happen of course.
Really looking forward to seeing how Kendellen gets on too.

All quiet on Snyman injury wise, hopefully he’s near a comeback.

The latest news from Munster :

https://www.munsterrugby.ie/2021/09/07/squad-update-pre-exeter-chiefs-3/#post

The Munster squad continue their pre-season training programme this week ahead of Saturday’s fixture against Exeter Chiefs at Sandy Park (3pm).

See the latest squad news below.

Saturday’s Munster Challenge Match (see match highlights and reaction here) saw Neil Cronin make a welcome return to action after a long-term knee injury.

Mike Haley (groin) and Dan Goggin (thigh) both return to training this week.

Jason Jenkins sustained a low-grade shoulder injury in training but is expected to be back training in the next few weeks.

RG Snyman steps up his rehabilitation this week and will follow a modified training programme. If he continues to progress positively, RG is expected to be available for a possible return to action in October.

John Hodnett is making good progress with his rehabilitation from an achilles tendon injury and is in line to begin a modified training programme in the coming weeks.

The 10 Munster players who lined out for Ireland in the Vodafone Summer Series are not available for selection this weekend.

On the Academy front, Jonathan Wren suffered a thigh injury in the Munster Challenge Match and will be assessed this week with the medical department to determine the extent of the injury.

Daniel Okeke sustained a concussion and will enter the return to play protocols under the supervision of the medical department.

Continuing to rehab: Kevin O’Byrne (leg), Jason Jenkins (shoulder), John Hodnett (achilles), RG Snyman (knee).

Has Wren any luck ?
