"What should I change? If I should change in the first season maybe we would not win seven Premier Leagues in eight years. Impossible. I am not going to change. We are big believers in the process and the fundamentals we have to do. Injured players have to come back to their best form, players who have played a lot of minutes because of the injuries need rest, one good result can change our mind and believe.”
Is Pep saying he's a one trick pony who won't or can't do anything differently to what he knows?
There would be nothing wrong with sitting back a bit to protect the defence and grinding out a few low scoring wins to boost his and the team's confidence. It seems to be thing that modern coaches just have one idea and they live or die by that idea come what may.
It was the same with ETH (not comparing him to Pep at all before all the SSB loving Pep baby's start). I thought he was really on to something with the way he lined out against City in the cup final. But then rather than try and build on that, he goes straight back to his fucking "idea" and promptly gets sacked. Russell Martin yesterday telling the keeper to keep playing out from the back no matter what. Even Carragher had a funny quip about Liverpool looking dangerous every time McCarthy had the ball.
We used to hate the "long ball" game, but now you'd wish the keeper would punt a few long ones up to a Drogba type forward for a bit of fucking variety.
