The Official Man Utd Thread - Part 3.

Poor old Ralf must be really looking forward to a further two years of "consultancy" at this basket case of a club
The dopey bastards will probably.give Paulie wintering in dubai 600 grand a week to stay. He'll get 6 assists in August, before it gets cold towards late September and he goes on holidays again.

Anyone who thinks this was a good window for United is a fucking idiot.

Any window where no players come in to improve the squad can't be held up as a good window.

But there are upsides

- The clear-out of players who have gone stale under Mourinho/LVG/Ole had to begin asap
- Players who were getting minimal game time will now actually play some football (either on loan, or because their pathway to first team minutes is less cluttered)
- If those on loan perform well it could add a few million to a summer price-tag
- The Utd squad was bloated. Ralph Knapsack will now have a tighter squad to work with in training, without half as many disgruntled guys around he edges
- There's lots of hype about 3-4 young players. The club will probably find out 12-18 months earlier whether they have what it takes to be first teamers

Too right. As long as things are in a state of flux, there's money to be made in the consultancy trade.

It'll be a lucrative time for Rangnick Kornetka Consulting Ltd.

Phil that post is nonsense. It could easily go the other way with the loaned out players.

And if mcfred get injured, United are fucked.

Yeah, super. Reduce your squad to a state that the two players who are the weak links in the team are guaranteed starters.

Positives my arse.

Not to mention Spurs have strengthened and have a world class coach.

Most of the guys they've loaned are sitting on deflated valuations. There's bigger upside risk compared to downside risk.

I'm not saying that it's a net positive window.

Just that there are some necessary steps Utd need to take to get the squad back into decent shape. They're not pain-free steps, but they have their upsides.

Plus...they'll avoid repeating the mistake of throwing good money after bad by bringing in players who the next guy might not fancy.

Are you on the WUM?

Significantly reduce your squad depth, bring no one in, and hand your rivals a better chance of cl football next year, so THEY can attract top players in the summer instead of you, and you think that's somewhat positive.

Phil, give the wumming a break.

This is a serious sports discussion area.

IMHO It was a false squad depth. Those players weren't trusted.

Martial, DVB, Diallo were never going to get a decent amount of first team minutes - unless there was a huge injury crisis, in which case 4th spot would be unlikely.

Plus, the world needs an opportunity to see 2022 era Phil Jones deployed as a defensive mid. It just does.

Here's where you lost me

🚨 Manchester United have confirmed that supporters will be able to exchange their shirts with Mason Greenwood's name emblazoned on the back for free #MUFC

Eh should they not wait for him to have his day in court before they purge all traces of him from the club?

Perhaps, but there are likely two factors at play here:

1. The club have additional insight on his behaviour & aspects of the evidence against him and feel that he's a busted flush
2. They'd be on shaky legal ground with any formal action (e.g. fine, tearing up his contract) but this is a low-cost way for them to show that they get the groundswell of bad feeling towards the player within their support base & beyond

They may be doing it out of decency, but either way it's good PR and reduces the chances of the tabloids turning their guns on the club when they run out of content directly related to Greenwood.
