The Official Man Utd Thread - Part 3.

That's making a presumption that this is possible.

Humans fuck up. The more pressure, the more they fuck up.

I wouldn't be saying it's acceptable either, nor that something different shouldn't be tried, but I think this idea that they simply go out and find this solution in the morning is fairly wild.
That’s why my first words were I get this, but it’s still atrocious.

In any industry this would be looked at as incompetence. I’ve never gone down the road of crookedness but because it’s so bad it can appear so.

When you have “celebrity” refs on tv justifying their questionable decisions then we’re on a bad path.

The prem has always prided itself on industriousness and honesty and these clowns are making us all question reality.

Many, many times a season, including last night and today I’m questioning the integrity, intelligence and the competence of the people in charge of the game.
That’s not right, they are fucking useless. I have no trust in them.

60 minutes with a 1 man advantage at home in the theatre of dreams against your local rival.
Something seriously wrong when a team is scrapping for excuses.
8 points behind arsenal after just 4 games ?

There are 2 seperate issues.

Utds poor start to the season

and

VAR intervened incorrectly and impacted the result.

Pro Ref has described this as 'an error in judgement'

The rule is that VAR must review if the offside player played the ball and if not whether he impacted the play by compromising the actions of defender(s)

They clearly saw him try to make contact and decided he fsiled. They had to see that his actions impacted the response of the Utd defender

Pro Ref should be forced to further clarify - did the VAR Official and his assistent both not know the rule in this matter ?

It looks to me that this is the only feasible explanation.

This raises the further question of how can VAR be retained when some officials dont know badic rules.

I cannot see how anyone can now defend the continued use of VAR ?

AFAICS - Rugby and Association Football use the video assistance differently.

In the former, the ref is alerted but remains the final decision maker - in the latter, the VAR Officials often make the final decision.

I prefer the rugby method.

I'm ok with VAR deciding if a player is onside but not on whether he impacts the play.

It's difficult to believe that 2 VAR Officials decided that the City forward did not impact the play.

It"s equally difficult to believe that 2 VAR Officials don't know the offside rules.

Either way, if the 2 VAR Officials on the biggest EPL game of the week end are so grossly incompetent then it raises massive questions on the training and competence of VAR Officials.

A system is only as good as the officials operating it - VAT is not fit for purpose
