The keyword there is proven. If the club are serious about improving they need to spend big on proven quality. It's a big risk. For the money they spent on Antony and Hojlund they'd have overspent massively on Harry Kane.

Sometimes the solution isn’t the transfer market. Maybe focusing on developing young players and giving them games and time. The constant churn of new players transferring in and out can really work against a club. Traditionally Utd always threw in young lads. I always admired that about Fergie. These days even if they don’t work out you can get a nice fee selling them to teams lower down the league.

I was Looking at Diomande at the World Cup with a view to Pool buying him; Diallo looked every bit as good, if not better. I think Utd have a potential world class player there if he’s given plenty games.

Amad is a grand player. No problems on the wing with him, Cuhna, Mbuemo, Bruno if needed and Young Lacey all capable of playing there.

But Utd need midfielders. As in they have to buy.

I love seeing young lads come through at Utd and it is a big part of the culture at the club started by Busby and carried on by Fergie.

But the best mix is some youngsters and some top class acquisitions. That Utd cannot or will not compete for the best available players is a shocking indictment of the rot at the club due to those cunts in Florida.

50 million pound in interest every year to the banks. For a club which had no debt,a modern stadium and one of the best squads with the best manager when they took over.

Now United pretend to act like a big club instead of actually working like one.

Agree Noel. The optimum is a mix of young lads / home grown with big money signings. I guess my point was more at those (of all clubs, not just Utd) who look at the transfer market as the be all and end all. I saw something last summer about Liverpool ‘winning the transfer window’. Stupid shit. I guess in this day and age, clicks and transfer windows matter more than cups and league titles. Not for me.

It’s the masterplan for the regeneration, which is what will get some of the public funding they’re looking, so needed for business case and funding applications and all that. Something that size is a 20+ year project.

All they have for the stadium is the location of where it will go and parameters for its footprint.

From being around Wembley, building apartment blocks within throwing distance of a major stadium is not a great way to go.

I mean, it's not like you haven't spent years moaning about them before doing a u turn about March.

Anyway, been doing a bit of digging. Turns out Liverpool outspent Utd in the 90s. Again in the 2000s. United spent more in the 10s and are ahead in this decade too.

The this means more crowd are doing their damndest to fix that mind you.

Funnily enough I broke that rule for the Santos links out of sheer disbelief about the 50 million pound fee for a Chelsea reject. I hope Mitten (and Vitell) are right. Still need more midfielders though.

At least two. Emerson seems to be off and Mainoo and Santos can't play 55 to 60 games each.
