The Official Man Utd Thread - Part 3.

Ah come on, it was funny.

I just dont get what United are at tbh. Fernandes at West Ham looks decent and Ederson is supposedly ok but are those kind of signings going to close the gap to City and Arsenal?

All our rivals are going to spend too. If they try to yellow pack it on replacing Cas they could be in a lot of trouble next season.

I think Ederson/Fernandes +1 blockbuster (Tonali/Anderson/Wharton) would be a very good window for united.

That’s basically a new midfield with only Kobbie Mainoo staying.

Ugarte is shite, Mount too injury prone and Casemiro is out the gap. A starting right back and a young left back to challenge Shaw and Utd’s squad is in a far better place.

The gap to Arsenal and City is too big to bridge in one window. Sorting the midfield would be a decent step towards it. Not everyone needs to be a superstar. Kovacic, Wijnaldum, Milner, Gundogan, Merino, Zubimendi were no world beaters but all contributed handsomely to title winning teams.

Fletcher, Park etc all did excellent work on winning teams too.

M Fernandes at 21 could be a very clever signing. Bit of a gamble but he’s still developing and could easily see him go up a level. If Martinez/De Ligt can stay fit for any reasonable amount of time then utd won’t be too badly off at all.

West Ham reportedly looking for 80 mill for Fernandes. No one is going to pay that. Scott at Bournemouth looks decent . Tonali and Anderson are going to cost in the region of a hundred million. INEOS should just fuck off and sell to owners who will invest if they think they can get United challenging by not paying market rate for top players.

If they were serious about getting us back challenging then they have to get in at least one top midfielder. Baleba is shit.

The fees quoted for players this season are mental altogether

Morgan Rogers, Elliot Anderson, Adam Wharton, Junior Kroupi, Yann Diomende, Baleba, Gibbs-White all being touted as £100m.

It’s some fucking bubble. 10 years ago they were £20m max. All decent players but not exactly world beaters.

The money in the PL is insane. Bournemouth, Brighton, Brentford and the likes don’t need to sell to survive so they can quote mental fees to see if the giants are dumb enough to pay it.

And if the giants are clever enough to scout a young player with potential from an obscure league (Valverde, Caceido, Pacho) then the fans will be in uproar over the owners cheaping it.

I think the Barca general manager summed it up over the €70m Gordon fee.

Something like “If it doesn’t work out we’ll sell him back to the PL for €80m”

€100m used to be a dead cert like Florian Wirtz but nowadays it only gets you a lightweight plodder like Florian Wirtz

Instead of playing long passes out wide all the time (like Bruno does) we need someone to break the lines with the ball at his feet.

We're very close to knitting a title winning side together. Add that to what we have already and we'll go close.

Also it's time to start introducing our better youth players to more minutes on the pitch given the amount of games we will play next season.

Rice was what, 105 Million.

I'd put Anderson and Tonali in the same bracket, top premier league proven midfielders. Pay the 100 million, thats the going rate. If they go to City and Arsenal and United are left holding their mickey wheres the saving?
