The Isak & Wirtz signings will understandably garner a lot of attention because they were big sums of money. But both are top drawer players with a great age profile. I wouldn't get overly worked up about their slow start - esp. Isak who is PL-proven and only now approaching the fitness level that other players would've been at on gameweek 1.

Wirtz has undoubted quality, but needs to learn to deal better with the pace & physicality or he'll end up like another Veron.

Hojlund has 8 goals in 9 games for club & country so far this season. Far too many people wrote him off, including at Utd which for a young forward isnt the right approach. Utd should have shipped off Zirkzee and kept him IMO, always believed there was a player in Hojlund.

Isaks fee makes him a target for sure and IMO he`s not worth it. He is a good player (way off the pace at the moment) but its top dollar because of the lack of quality out there more than anything else. Always hard to compare different eras but if he was playing 20/25 years ago he probably isnt in the top 5 forwards in the league, personal opinion obviously.

On Wirtz, i remember posting this on the Liverpool thread at the time..... I think the main issue is not knowing what to do with him. Paying a huge fee for a player that doesnt have an obvious fit into your current team/system was always going to come with a risk. He has already been tried in three or four positions (I think) and generally does nothing for the balance that the team had last year. Until he starts producing goals/assists then i think his signing will come under the most scrutiny of all the Summer signings to be honest.

I'd no opinion on him as I barely saw him play, but he got great reviews. And you'd expect something very special for that kind of money.

Scholes was tough in fairness, poor defensively but tried.

Not sure I'd agree. He was in a tough position as a young striker, no doubt, but he sank as opposed to swam.

He looked mentally broken towards the end. He really needed a move to get his career back on track.

Hard to compare across eras alright. But in terms of #9s in world football right now there really aren't many better, hence the premium as you say.

I'd agree with most of that tbh.

I think Slot may have a better idea of his first XI once Salah leaves than he does for this season.

But he needs to find a solution that works this season...soon.
 
Licha back training with the squad, definitely won't see him against the SSBs but maybe in the next few weeks.

I hope he can get back to somewhere close to the form he's showed in the past however after 3 serious injuries since he arrived the latest being knee ligament reconstruction it could take some time, I think he will need to slight alter his game and not fly into tackles where he doesn't need too.

His passing, tenacity and attitude is levels above Shaw and a back 3 of Yoro, De Ligt & Licha has the potential to be very solid and create plenty from the back but it will need time to settle and bed in.

It's interesting to see the scraps of quotes they chose. Pretty run of the mill stuff that any vaguely informed fan could offer. But I guess their expertise isn't really in the tactics of football - it's more around milking various parties in the game for as much as they can

That's embarrassing for the journos, as 'Arry said "the league tables usen't be printed until end if October". Everything is just short term, hype, interaction for engagement and content filler.

Anyway Sancho is the worst transfer. Has he moved? Doesn't matter, still the worst.
