The Official Man Utd Thread - Part 3.

I would say the evidence so far would suggest it is. Overwhelmingly so.

ETH got the team to third and won some trophies. Amorim has a long way to go before he gets to even Ten Hags level. The team has many holes in it but he has gotten nothing out of them.

Some of his midfield woes are self inflicted. He has a decent midfielder in Mainoo but he can't seem to use him. He plays Bruno in the middle two. That's just unfathomable. Ugarte is a player with limitations but can do a job. That's all on Amorim and his selections.
ETH should have been fired after the 7-0. He’s peak tactics wonk manager. Had the youth teams playing the same stuff. It would work if you’d much the better players and it was non contact. Otherwise mental spreading your whole team across the pitch.

People are deluding themselves if they think one signings in midfield will change the team. (Not saying you are suggesting that). Amorim has shown absolutely nothing to suggest he's up to the job. There are literally zero green shoots. He has given us nothing to cling to. From tactics to selection to motivation he has been severely lacking.
The midfield will have a complete overhaul irrespective of who`s the manager next Summer IMO. I dont disagree with anyone who said signing one number 10 this Summer and a midfielder would have been a better fit, but we are where we are now.

Casemiro will be out of contract, Ugarte clearly not up to it, Mainoo in limbo and it will be right time to take an offer for Fernandes (i think the optics of doing it this Summer would have been ill timed). Three out and two in quite likely. My point about getting one in January was more in terms of a lifeline for Amorim, one player isnt going to transform a team but the right one can still make a big enough difference to change the trajectory. I remember posting something similar in January 2020 and that player certainly proved to be a difference maker for the remainder of that season.

I for one would like to welcome our new Saudi overloads

I watched a documentary lately about Matchroom Sports ( The Hearns) the Sheik dude is sniffing around them as well.

i read a book a few weeks back. definitely repeating this but the lads in the middle east are planning hard for post oil by getting their mitts on everything and anything to make sure cash always comes back to them.

sport is only the tip of the iceberg. they’re after music, event centres (they should build one in cork) amd any other cultural aspect there is in making money. i'm all for them
and their ambitions to future proof their countries but they can’t get it at the hypocrisy and level of double standards they do with us.

yeah, m8s, buy that football club there but don’t ban yer wimmin from
going to soccer matches and driving and stuff…👀
