The Official Man Utd Thread - Part 3.

What’s do people think about Garnacho potentially leaving?

It doesn’t look like Amorim has a role for him and 60mil is a good price, I definitely don’t wanna see him go to Chelsea though.

He’s a very talented lad and it would be a shame to see him go but at the same time if they need to get money in to start improving the squad then hard decisions need to be made
Personally I think if Utd actually get an offer of £60m for Garnacho, they should take it.

Forget about systems for a minute, there are serious question marks about Garnacho in general. His decision making is generally very poor and he has shown to have a questionable attitude at times. Naturally there is a chance that he improves massively in both these areas and develops into a top player elsewhere, but equally it is just as likely he wont.

His sale could fund Gyokeres coming in (Summer window) and a top class forward is needed more right now.

That's a fair point m8, 60m is a big offer if true

Care to explain why?
Why you believe that it would be such a major task for players to adapt into another system should the Amorim project fail in 2 years?

One of Uniteds major flaws over the past decade has been poor recruitment, thats no secret. Good players should be adaptable into multiple systems. Utd buying players who have not been good enough has been a far bigger issue than how they are setting up.

IMO Amorim needs to ensure the recruitment is up to scratch going forward.

* Get one if not two capable wing backs
* Get at least one CB with pace into the back 3
* Get a top quality striker

So lets just say in theory that works for a bit and breaks down again in two years, why do you feel that the players left at that stage would be incapable of adapting into any other system? Possibly with the way Amorim plays there might be the necessity for a new manager to sign a new wide forward in order to revert to a more conventional 4-3-3 but the idea that his system in particular would hinder a suitor is complete nonsense IMO.

Your WB`s should have no issue with reverting to a more conventional FB role, the CB`s should have no issue with reverting to a flat back 4, with one of them obviously losing out. In the middle, there are no drastic changes, same with a striker so where`s the problem? You might have a redundant 10, a redundant CB and the necessity for at least one or possibly two wide forwards. This hardly qualifies as a major fix. The quality of the players brought in will be far more important.

Rashers - he no wanna go....

Of course not. If you're sitting on £325k a week contract, you'd be loathe to let go of it.
Against that, if some club willing to pony up that amount or fraction thereof and let Manu cover the rest, he'd be gone in a shot.
As article alludes to, his wage would be an issue at lot of foreign clubs.
Arsenal could take a punt on him on loan for rest of season. They badly need goal scorer and not as if Arsenal and Manu are in direct competition for 2024/2025. Would be win-win if Arteta could get him back in the groove!
If his goals denied Man City and Liverpool the title, Man U supporters would welcome him back in the summer as a returning hero! Club could then decide between keeping him or offloading him to foreign club at significant premium to what's on offer at the moment!

Arsenal have 2 players already on loan so cant get anymore in that way.
