The Official Man Utd Thread - Part 3.

I didn't see either game tbh. Was out stuffing myself with steak and wine. Just caught the MOTD highlights of the Liverpool game, looked a cracker.

What's your view on the Dutch bum (Slot?) that you think is being proved right?

The main one I recall is that he's a Pep clone / boring pass-merchant, which imho the faaaaccccccchhhhtts and eye test don't back up.
Lol, not that Dutch bum. The one who couldn't be bothered blocking Isaks shot, because he's so casual.... :rolleyes:

But you knew that already.

I genuinely didn't 🤣

The VVD obsession is a bit much. The way Liverpool set up they're more than happy to let guys take pot shots from that kind of distance. You could give up 20-30 of those and it wouldn't be surprising if you didn't concede once.

A mix of confirmation bias and outcome bias (...from an outrageous sweet hit) on your part there imho

Lol. He made a pathetic effort to block it m8, pathetic. There was definitely a moment where he could have closed that space but he chose not to, and then he throws out the laziest leg you'll ever see.

It's okay though because VanGuire doesn't make many mistakes. Besides the one where he was too casual against, checks notes, Madrid 8 days ago, or the one he made against, em, Southampton three days before that.

#TheG:lol!:at.

Led by the data nerds, Liverpool defenders tend not to lunge in an commit themselves when opposition forwards are shaping to hit shots from distance. They generally back Alisson (and more recently Caoimhin) to deal well with the vast majority of long-range shots and try to limit the risk of a major deflection.

You're letting a very low likelihood outcome cloud your judgement.

There's a good article on it here -> https://medium.com/@chris.summersell/are-liverpool-breaking-a-sacred-defensive-code-8c5f806a4c41

Lol, not having that at all. I mean, why throw out the leg, if you're allowing the shot base on low probability?

Why not close down the space. Na, not having it.

This is one case where my own eyes > Stats. VVG made a bollocks of it.

It will be interesting how this is picked up by the media. ETH was criticised by many media personnel and fans (mainly Twitter fanboys) for this approach with Sancho. Madueke has produced a lot more for Chelsea than Sancho ever did for Utd too.

Madueke dealing with it like a pro. Mustn't be spending too much time with Sancho at training.
