It might well come to that in the end.

Doesn't sound like De Jong is falling over himself to make the switch, so is unlikely to swallow a big financial hit to do so.

There are enough moving parts at Barcelona financially to make your head spin. It's still unclear whether they'll cook finesse the books sufficiently to convince La Liga to let them operate at a higher salary limit.

It may come down to "who will blink first" and make financial concessions. Will the sIgN pLaYeRs nOw brigade force Man Utd to act, or will other financial factors mean Barca simply must get De Jong off the books this summer.
