I wouldn't judge a sporting director after less than 6 months in the job.

[ Melo was a last minute stop-gap loan. I'd judge him more on the long-term performances of Diaz, Nunez and Ramsey ]

As much as anything else, stability & continuity is important in that role. Regardless of how good / bad he would've proven to be in time, it'll be disruptive to bring a new face in and the elongated handover from Edwards to Ward was of little long-term value.

It has also emerged today that Ian Graham has ben serving out his notice period since June.

That's a lot of institutional knowledge and analytical know-how walking out the door within a 12 month period.

Not good.
