The Official Liverpool Thread - Part 2

City can do that. They pin you in and they make you feel like you can’t get out. And you cave. They put all the lower teams to the sword far easier than Liverpool.

Do Villa possibly hold out for at least a point if their season isn’t basically done? I think it’s probable but a 2-0 lead away to City is never ever safe until you’re going down the tunnel.
And they'll have an actual striker next year. God knows how many Haaland is going to get, with the service from everywhere. Dreamland for him.

It’ll take city 10-15 games to get up to speed with Haaland imo. They’re not going to create as many chances with him but they’ll probably score more of them once he gets up and running.

Anyone wishing to challenge city will need to be taking 40-42 points from the first 15 games. Liverpool did this in 19/20 and city once they saw the gap threw in the towel and concentrated on cups. Drawing city at home in the first 10 games would be an advantage too.

Liverpool having Salah/ Diaz not going to the World Cup is a huge advantage. They’ll have to go balls to the wall til the WC and use the break to load up on the inhalers.

You are fooling yourself.
City are introducing one player to an established line up and you think it will take them 15 games to get up to speed.

City scored 99 goals last season. They won’t score much more than that next season regardless of signing Haaland. He will likely score a lot of them but they’ll hit around the same mark. I’m not sure he will make them substantially better in the PL but they have room for improvement in the CL clearly.

Liverpool just need to focus on themselves. A bit of a broken start to this season was probably costly in the end. I can see a top quality midfielder being added which could improve the team a lot. A back up RB also likely to make the squad balance better. If those two happen we will be ready to go all the way with City again. You don’t need to focus on City really.

I’d expect more of Chelsea though to maybe throw a spanner in the works but while their squad has great depth, they don’t have the firepower or superstar attackers to keep them going all the way.

Haaland is an animal.

All we can hope is he does a Sancho and finds it difficult to get upto speed with the English game.

But City can drop 100 million on Grealish and have him warming the bench. English football is going as bad as Bayern's dominance of the Bundesliga.

As a player you’d hate to see it happen to him but a groin injury like what happened to Owen or heaven forebid knee injuries could seriously impact the way he plays too.
