The Official Liverpool Thread - Part 2

Punctuation is either correct or not so why did you try to correct me being an error prone dickhead yourself? 😏

“Calm down, calm down!!!”

Interestingly, Endo and Chiesa have been left out of the CL squad for the group stages but Leoni, Bradley and Ekitike are listed.

This bodes well for having Ekitike back by Christmas it seems. I didn’t expect to see him until next season but it would be a huge bonus if he’s back by Christmas. That’s a very bad injury and he may not come back the same player at all, which has happened many before him but if he can come back to the same level then it would be a massive boost.

As in 27/28?? Think this Christmas was always mentioned as the timeframe even from the outset but as you say the worry is will he ever be the same player again, given the nature of the injury.

It probably speaks at least as much to how low Chiesa sits in the manager's pecking order as it does about Eitike's return timeline.

Tbh if you could guarantee that Ekitike is able to play 60mins of football at a good intensity by the final CL group game (27-Jan) I reckon Iraola and most fans would take it. It's still a long road back for him.

I'd rather they just pick Chiesa in that slot to be honest.
I know Achilles surgeries have advanced significantly but its such a massive risk unless he is targeting that last group game but even then why risk it?

tbh I'd be inclined to include Chiesa too, unless the briefings from the medical staff are they reckon Ekitike can get match-fit prior to the final 2 games.

Unless there's a serious injury crisis it's unlikely to really matter. Iraola (like Slot) is far more likely to re-configure whoever is available among his preferred attacking players (Wirtz, Munoz, Isak, Gakpo, Barcola) than give Chiesa CL minutes.

In the squad of 25 players named in List A you have to include a minimum of eight ‘locally trained’ squad members. I think it's the guys I've bolded below.

So it's unclear whether McConnell made the squad ahead of Endo purely because he's "locally trained". Feels like that's probably the case.

Youngsters such as Rio Ngumoha and Trey Nyoni aren’t on List A as they can be named on List B given their age.

Alisson, Mamardashvili, Woodman, Jaros;
Gomez, Van Dijk, Jacquet, Kerkez, Bradley, Leoni, Tsimikas, Frimpong, Araujo, Chambers, Mabaya;
Wirtz, Szoboszlai, Mac Allister, Munoz, Gravenberch, McConnell;
Isak, Gakpo, Ekitike, Barcola.

He’d do well to pack in all the nonsense modelling

I saw pics there the other day of him dressing like a fella on a catwalk and the crutches were nearby….be more in his line to be stuck in the Axa rehabbing
