The Official Liverpool Thread - Part 2

linked with 18 year old PSG winger Ibrahim Mbaye tonight. Very fast and talented winger, the sort of winger that Iraola would make end to a very expensive talent at Bournemouth but he is another right footer which baffles me because it’s not good for balance of the attack.

The only way I see both him and Barcola coming in is if Gakpo leaves. We can have 5 wingers in Gakpo, Rio, Barcola, Mbaye and Munoz and all of them right footed. Something doesn’t add up there. Although Gakpo could play through the middle a lot too. Of course two of those listed haven’t actually joined yet so it’s merely speculation.

Rumours that PSG want shot of him as has developed serious attitude problem.

Strong links with him today. Not sure what to make of it. He is a good defender and very fast but he is very limited on the ball.

I can see why the club would want someone like him as he covers both full back spots too and the mooted £35m fee maybe isn’t all that bad in the current market. He’s not someone to get excited about but I do think he’s an upgrade on Bradley and Frimpong from a defensive point of view. It all seems a bit underwhelming though.

I don't think he's any better defensively than Bradley (...and he's got 3yrs / 100 appearances more development in him). His positioning is questionable, but often his pace makes up for it - like Kyle Walker.

But he's fast, can cover either full-back position and more importantly he's currently fit. It would leave Liverpool with 3 right-backs who are each much better going forward than going backwards. I assume that's intentional, but it places a lot of emphases on the deep-liying midfielder(s) being able to cover the gaps.

Agree the rumoured fee looks reasonable value for a guy just about to turn 26, especially given he's at a team with CL qualification ambitions.

He's been offered around by Spurs. Never a good sign and almost certainly something to be avoided.
