The Official Liverpool Thread - Part 2

it’s not like i ever played elite level but out in the garden with the children i used to play against them on my left foot. anything to try and get better. those minimal gains!

when i was working in a factory doing very menial work i used my left hand just to try and get better at using it. i was playing gaelic football then so the idea was to be able to hand pass better from my left hand.

if you’re earning enormous amounts of cash and have been playing one game your whole life to get to where you are there’s no excuse for not being two footed.
I coach u9s. The amount of kids that can do more than just stand on their weaker foot is quite high. They wouldn't be equal ability but they can pass and get some sort of shot off.
It's obviously trained out of them as they get older.

The most embarrassing thing about that was letting Calvert Lewin score twice.

Much stronger Leeds bench told in the end.

Noticeable drop when Szobaslai and Wirtz went off.
Elliott, Jones and Chiesa showing exactly where they are, where they are. And a reality check for Jones in particular after his armband tantrum last week
The squad that went over for these friendlies has been very weak. There is a glaring issue at centre back and right back to start the season though as Leoni and Jacquet are still not match fit and Gomez is always injured.

The depth of the squad just isn’t there and I anticipate a slow start to the season because of the change in management style but also poor squad depth. We’ve seen Bournemouth start slow in previous seasons under Iraola too.

On the upside, Trey Nyoni looks a really exciting talent in midfield and looks ready to contribute meaningfully to the season ahead.

Watched the first half last night. Really poor game. I know preseason doesnt matter a shit but was surprised with how bad the play was.

Are Liverpool leaving the business until late so Iraola can have a good look at the squad? Gomez, Endo, Chiesa, Jones, Gakpo, Elliott, Tsimikas, Mamardashvili, Bajcetic, Ramsay all need moving on, VVD and Ali next summer. That's twelve players out, but ten that need replacing in the squad. It's a huge amount of work to be done in 12 months!

That would be the positive PR spin.

In reality there's not much business being done generally and the market has gone crazy.

But they'll need to bite the bullet soon
