The Official Liverpool Thread - Part 2

The saying talent is nothing without hard work applies to this squad imo as we saw last season. Watching the 2 'inside' videos released by the club recently fill me optimism for the coming season. Seeing players busting a gut and keeled over on the floor isnt something we really saw last season. Ive high hopes for Frimpong and Kerkez under Iraola.

I think Kerkez will really kick on and be a big success under Iraola (...as long as he lasts).

The jury is out on Frimpong. Not that he doesn't have some exceptional qualities, more that he is a bit more dependent on the shape of the side around him being a good fit.

The high speed/energetic style of play generally will suit all the faster guys like Kerkez and Frimpong but there is a lot more question marks surrounding Frimpong’s ability to play and defend as an orthodox right back.

Of all the signings and money spent last summer, that is the signing I’d question the most. I said it at the time too. He wasn’t a technically talented replacement for Trent and wasn’t a defensive minded replacement.

But if they don't but anyone else from this point, is the realistically good enough to challenge for the premier League? I accept we'll potentially have long term injured back but I think we're really light in midfield.

Not a chance. The squad is currently light in all areas and lacking quality too. I’m expecting signings but I don’t know who.

The right wing position is the big one. Definitely need another defender or two as well, given Robertson is gone, Konate too and the right back position is weak. Wouldn’t say no to a midfielder either, a DM in particular.

I agree but they're leaving it late to assimilate signings into what Iraola wants before the start of the season....unless the deals are already set up, unlike the mess they had with Izak.

With the World Cup ongoing and the market exceptionally inflated I think the club are taking their time to try balance up between value and quality. Ideally you’d get players in quickly in the window but there’s still loads of time left. It’s definitely nothing to panic about just yet.

I was only in primary school when it was announced that he was leaving lfc, but can still remember the huge shock at the time

thank gawd the cub went and signed Kenny..... I saw some famous fan or journalist taking a few years back and said something like "Kenny scored after 4 minutes on his debut and no one ever mentioned Keegan ever again"

as good as Keegan was for the club Kenny was just so much better all round player
