The Official Liverpool Thread - Part 2

It was something I’d be fuming with if given against me but by the whole “clear and obvious” label then I am surprised it was overturned. Maybe the process is debatable but the outcome is right.

Played quite well for periods of the second half but couldn’t deliver the goal. Not sure what the reasoning is behind Isak playing only 45. He would have been useful in that period where we were on top after half time. But the PSG goal killed the game and tie at that stage and a lot of energy went into trying to get a goal before that.

It’s another defeat though. There’s just no end to the defeats. But I do know it we can play like we did for the first 70 in the PL until the end of the season we will secure top 5. The issue is there is no consistency in performance. Everton away on Sunday is a very, very tough game after that.
At the same time, I'd have taken it !

Yeah, Isak was clearly preset but I would have taken the chance of getting even another 15 out of him, especially with no Ekitike. It's been a disastrous season but if we can somehow get a CL sport, just move and draw a line under the season.

Everton A
Palace H
ManU A
Chelsea H
Villa A
Brentford H

I'm dreading needing a win in the last game, with Kelleher in the opposition goal.

That Chelsea game at home is very, very big but those are bad set of fixtures for a team that is on the ropes. You’d be hoping maybe Palace have Conference League as a distraction. Even saying that is a bit embarrassing really.

Ekitike looks like he’s gone for the season and maybe a fair bit longer with it. Him and Isak just aren’t destined to play together.

These players can play with intensity. They just are fair too picky about when they decide to do it. They need to just throw the lot as those remaining games and scrape top 5. At least that would give the club a decent position to address the squad issues in the summer. I just can’t see how Slot takes any assortment of these players forward successfully. Too much has gone wrong this season under his watch.

If Ekitike is out for the start of next season, and Salah is gone anyway, they can't afford not to buy.

And of course then there is the Konate situation at the back, as well as Gomez, with Robertson going. Hopefully Leoni and Jacquet will be available in the pre season.

Michael Edwards and Richard Hughes need to start coming up with lower cost quality gems and lots of them.

Well if last summer has taught us anything it’s that spending a fortune on big names doesn’t guarantee absolutely anything.

The squad is thin and the first XI needs a few additions too. So it’s not a case of buying 2/3 players here. We might need the bones of 6 so we will have to be clever, try get a few cut price deals but also add quality to the team. Not easy but we’ve seen Edwards do it before. Probably more his forte than luring in expensive, big names.

Totally agree, fingers crossed 🤞

right, time to concentrate on winning the league, easily do-able if arsnela lose ALL their remaining games and city lose theirs (bar the arsenal game)

Word is that Ekitike has ruptured his achilles and is out for 9 months or so. That’s a major blow. I know he has some flaws but he’s the main striker and source of goals. It also complicates transfer dealings in the summer as a year is a long time and that’s a very tough injury to come back from.
