Liverpool won the league last year so bonuses (right job imo) kicked in this year.

Arsenal had the highest net spend in summer by the way and in 24/25 United’s wages were higher than Liverpool’s.

Team is a shambles under Slot and has been for 12 months. Wirtz hasn’t set the world alight but i’ve seen enough to not bracket him in the mega-flop Antony/Sancho category yet.

Wirtz, and maybe even others underperforming, will be fine once the team gets two new pacey wingers in this summer. He needs people ahead of him to his with his passes and link with. Ekitike needs others too to link with. We play most games with wingers who can’t run or beat their man now.

This also heavily affects the pressing which is often non existent. This is why I think others around them in midfield and at the back might also benefit a lot from new, fast wingers. Salah is completely done. It’s quite sad to see really.

We probably do have other issues that’ll require solving but that itself could help everyone an awful lot. But that’s a hypothetical situation as of now. We have Slot as the wheel and he’s making me hate this team currently.

It's small things but look at the difference when Frimpong is on the right and Rio is on the left. Genuine pace that defenders have to be alert too. Brings in the likes of Kerkez more too.

Gakpo and Salah cripples Ekitike as there is little to no threat out wide.

Again it's baffling how it's persisted with. Gakpo is head scratching in and of itself. But there must be some sort of agreement with Salah where he starts when fit until the end of the season.

The problem you have there is, both of them are really small, add in Mac Allister, Kerkez, etc and all of a sudden Liverpool are a small enough team in the current land of giants in PL football.

Set pieces would be an absolute nightmare and even some of the taller players like Gravenberch aren't very good in the air.

A lot of heavy lifting for Virgil and Konate.

Agree. I've zero worries about Wirtz once the team around him has a decent balance. He's a facilitator more than a finisher of moves.

The wild thing is I've never seen a side win the ball so often in dangerous areas during that first 5 mins. It was almost laughable. Liverpool will be kicking themselves that they didn't score in that period, not to mind the full 90mins!

It's looking muddled alright.

There is absolutely no pace on the wings and it affects the team both offensively and defensively. If a player can’t run fast then he’s going to be much less effective in the press which is what is happening. It’s exposing the likes of MacAllister who isn’t the quickest himself but would be fine if the 3 in front of them press properly.

There is also a real lack of bite and aggression to the team and leadership. We have a technically more gifted midfield now than under Klopp but they don’t have anywhere near the same levels of experience, leadership and aggression.

It just goes to show there is more than just talent to make a team. It’s amazing there is so much more work needed to be done after what was spent last summer but starting with two wingers would be half the battle and I’m convinced of it. And when a team gets into a rut of being terrible inconsistent and dropping standards under a manager, I don’t think there’s a way back for a manager once that sets in, most of the time.

The pitch “looked” enormous last night.
The positioning of the 3 midfielders is atrocious.

Ball on left side = 3 lads within a 10m circle on left side.

Gravenberch as DM is a disaster. How often you see him trying to dribble around an opponent on the edge of the box with Soboszlai and McAllister right up with him.

Lose possession there and the opponents have half 2/3 of the pitch to run at the 2 centre halves. Zero protection there.

Good and all prime VVD was he was still somewhat protected by Fabinho/Henderson + 1.


DM should almost be an auxiliary centre half. Slot has the three of them basically holding hands wherever they go.

The longer Slot has them the worse they’re getting. He’s done
