The Official Liverpool Thread - Part 2

:lol!:

I'm almost starting to feel sorry for him now.
Are you really???

Despite the poor form since basically the first game this season (despite the early results that flattered the team), there are some good players in that squad. Obviously there are a few the wrong side of 30 and there will need to be changes given but when the new manager gets a hold of the squad there is plenty of talent to work with - they aren’t as bad as they are playing under Slot. So I do agree with one poster that said that there is one silver lining when they get punished for playing and persisting with players out of form - it makes the decision re the manager that bit less emotive at the end of the season and they will get the bounce.

Case and point is United - they were a shambles under the Amorin fella and look a decent side now, of course not perfect, but a shoe in for top 4 you’d say, and while Liverpool will persist with Slot till the end of the season, they will improve when they eventually make the change.

This is a good tweet. Flat, passive, no intensity or aggression. Nothing football. Nailed it.

Last season Slot found a nice balance between chaos and control. This season it’s been one extreme or the other and neither have served us well. I know Klopp’s style of all out chaos from kick off led to some hairy moments and concession of goals but we mostly blew teams away and if we didn’t blow them away, we had them worn down with sheer intensity.

The 78 mins before Wolves scored tonight were a team pretending to want to win, directed by a manager with a cowardly approach.

Back your manager.

This means more.

Shur his front 6 every game is so telegraphed the opposition don’t have a thing to worry about in terms of setup. He is checked out I think - he knows there is a change in the summer, if he was fighting for his job he’d try something else in terms of setup and personnel.

He has been manager since July 2024 and his family have not moved to the UK. Every chance he get's he fly's back home, which is understandable but it doesn't scream commitment to the club and it undoubtedly has an impact on his performance. Also, he's just not a very good coach.

Some of these points aren’t fair. A man can have a job in the UK and fly back to Holland sometimes to see his family and still be very committed to his job. Nobody mentioned these things last season. I don’t even think he’s a bad coach overall. There is hardly a massive selection of good ones in world football currently. But the style of football we’ve seen for most of this season is just not a good fit for Liverpool and even more so when you linger around 6th position after spending a fortune in the summer.

How can we go from watching Klopp’s teams go full pelt from kick off, breaking all sorts of goals records to now watching a side play passively, slow and cowardly for 70-80 mins a game. It’s not just a results thing, the style of play is just trash. And Klopp didn’t always win trophies and he did have the odd season(with mitigating circumstances) where we weren’t even challenging but fans tolerated it a lot better because of the style of play and general intention.

Everyone, supporters included, at the club is in survival mode until the summer. Then we need to go again in the market and add a pile of speed to the team and get a manager brave enough to not be a sheep to other PL managers and actually take risks and attack.
