The Official Liverpool Thread - Part 2

Hard one for Kweev. Didn't get the flight right at all but just tip it on. Still the defender didn't track Schar either and it was an impossible angle at full stretch.

Quansah and Gomez should have switched, massive difference when TAA was at RB.
Can Gomez not be sold to West Ham or Palace already? An absolute spoofer.
Reactionary at its finest.

Gomez was superb against Brighton and City. Struggled tonight but had a midfield pressed into submission in front of him and a young CB out of position next to him at RB who was also on a yellow. And if I’m honest, Van Dijk was not good at all either. So pick Gomez all you want and he wasn’t good but he is still a fine squad player.

macAllister yellow was atrocious. TAA’s wasn’t great either. other than that i thought the ref was ok. surprised he lasted 90 on that card.
Absolutely crazy yellow cards. In the end, MacAllister was probably lucky not to see a second yellow but would have been shocking. There was probably no bad tackle in the game yet 7 yellows.

This should be a lesson for the players. You have to be on it every game, especially away. If we’d have won(and we’d have loved to) then it may have papered over cracks. The subs did well, Slot changed things well but Nunez should not have seen out the game. He was horrific.

3-3 draw between Liverpool and Newcastle. Just like the old days. I think, but I might be wrong, that this means Man Utd or Arsenal win the league?”

Like I've always said Liverpool would have been mad to sell Salah.
Just caught the highlights there. Salah is bloody magnificent tbf. It would be churlish to say anything else.

But from their POV, maybe VanDonkey could have stopped being too "casual" for a second for the 1,254th time and, I dunno, I'm no football analyst here, but could he have at least attempted to block Isak's shot for the first? Or cut down the space so Isak couldn't hit that worldie?

Just an observation........

That's him in a nutshell, he had two good games and falls apart. He was haunted Isak's second was ruled out. He ran past Gordon for his goal. Kelliher bailed him out after he fluffed a back pass.
He can and should be improved on.

Quansah should have been CB with Gomez RB too but that's another issue.

Isak’s goal was just a superb strike. But Van Dijk did not play well last night. Not many played well at all for that matter.

It’s probably not easy to step in without much game time and be flawless. Hindsight is great and all but I can see why Slot opted for Gomez alongside VVD again after Sunday’s performance. Quansah is out of position at RB but that’s what we are left with when having to manage Trent’s minutes.

But I wouldn’t be having a cut off Gomez for being below average on a night pretty much everyone bar Salah was. Who else are you getting that can cover all defensive positions within the squad without being a whinge-bag that he’s being a sub most of the time?

Perspective is needed. A draw at Newcastle while playing poorly is not the end of the world. It’s December. There’ll be plenty of ups and downs between now and May.

OK, Shabby Gomez.

I'd have 100% taken the draw at half time.

Newcastle played that one as a real cup final. The 3 of Tonali/Joelinton/Guimares is a top 4 midfield easily.

Crowd were well up for it as well. Was a cracking game.

Gravenberch/Gomez/Quansah couldn’t deal with the press at all.

Isak is world class. Brilliant footballer. Lethal finisher and fantastic in the build up. He’d hit 30+ with a top team.

Need Jota/Chiesa back asap. Nunez touch/composure is non-existent. He’ll cost them points again this season the bird brain.

Salah is carrying them. Unbelievably productive player. Simply brilliant.

Alisson stops at least 1 of the goals last night but Kelleher has overall been a great back up the last few months.

Still expect them to fall back into the pack a bit. They looked leggy last night and don’t think the squad depth is as strong as city/arsenal.

A signing or two in January would be welcome but it’d be a huge surprise given FSGs track record.
