The Official Irish Rugby Thread

Also good to see 26 cap Stuart McCloskey getting game time ahead of his 34th birthday next month.

Aki will really be able to change it up from the bench. It'll be vital in the world cup that we'll have a 37 year old on the bench, who never really had pace, to provide injury cover against the likes of LBB and Cheslin Kolbe in the crucial knockout stages.
A nice cool, calm head to bring on and close the game out too.

Dad's army headed to Australia.

Quarter final exit nailed on.

Is Andeh gets his way Sambo at ten for the 6N and WC . 😆
Looking at the world cup draw, it's highly likely to be Argentina*.

Sigh.

*Ireland are in Pool D, with Scotland, Uruguay, Portugal. Winner of D plays best 3rd place of B (one of Georgia, Romania or Italy), E (Samoa or Japan) or F (Wales or Tonga).
The winner of that match plays the winner of D (it's going to be Argentina out of pool with Fiji, Spain and Canada) who'll play 3rd from A (Chile or Hong Kong), E and F.
Not sure how the allocation of the 3rd place is going to work, but either way, it's almost certain to be Ireland V Argentina barring a massive upset.

Its coming home.

Here's one that had come to my mind while doing some reading.

Is Michael Bent the last player to represent Ireland despite not playing for an Irish province?

And how was that allowed?

He signed for Leinster and then went into the Irish squad.

If you're talking about his Indian summer cameo, he moved back home to NZ and they drafted him in as cover for the remaining game(s) of that Tour. Rather than fly someone in for a couple of days from Ireland.
