The Official Irish Rugby Thread

It's been proven time and time again that you can't have a 10 that can't tackle. Its defending down a man.

Not sure why Farrell thinks he's the man to prove them all wrong and Prendergast is the man to do it.

RoG wasn't this bad before that gets thrown out.
Rog had poor technique tackling but at least he's got the tackles in, SP just looks ungainly and awkward , hard to correct it but he can definitely improve on what hes doing right now.

It’s not a tackle technique issue, and I don’t think it’s right to say it’s a bravery thing either. It’s a fundamental issue with the lads physical profile and athleticism, or his total lack of it.

He has a great kick, a great pass, and great reading of the game. But when he’s doing anything outside of that he looks like one of the lads being forced to partake in PE against his will when he’d rather be playing Minecraft.

Lads like Henry Pollard and Dan Biggar could never do much outside of those 3 things either, but they at least had the basic physical profile of lads that were capable of playing field sports at a decent level.

I think the things he’s good at have had an almost hypnotic effect on those involved with him through the system, which itself became a bit of a self fulfilling thing with the adulation of Leinster schools players and grads of that system.

Starting him again against the french this season was unforgivable. and to let him line out again against italy was scarcely believable. it was funny watching the disconnect between the dublin based rugby writers and what the french fans were saying about sambo. 'hes towing a caravan', 'its incredible Ireland have picked this donkey', etc. meanwhile Rob k on virgin saying he didnt have a bad game. real comical ali stuff.
