The Official Irish Rugby Thread

The Home Nations.
They should rename the loins the Home Nation Loins.
Then they wouldnt have to worry about tacking on Ireland to British.

Just found out they didnt even have a trophy for the Triple Crown until recently.
Only rogby meatheads wouldnt be embarrassed by this 'victory'
:lol!:
It's a left over from when the six nations was the 4 nations, been used as a term for beating the other 4 original participants for over 125 years.

Same way there isn't a separate trophy for a Grand Slam, nor a spoon for the Wooden Spoon...

I agree, they are knuckle draggers.

We take the Triple Crown for granted these days because we've won it so much in recent years. As a result of us being so good.

Scotland haven't won it in over 30 years, and winning it yesterday would have been like the world cup to them.

Ireland, England, Scotland, Wales. For one of those to beat all three in the same tournament is some achievement.

On paper, England should be winning it most years.

Genuine question, how many of our 6N/grandslams/TCs came in the years we're away to the big 2? Now that's seriously impressive.

Fuck it, I'll ask chatgpt...

2014, 2018 and 2024 6n with a few triple crowns in-between.

Fair focks.

Nobody in the world would have had us beating England at Twickenham this year. Nevermind thrashing them.

I'd love to see us play South Africa in a month. Just to see how different a performance it'd be to November. Who knows, it could be the same, but I'd use that as a benchmark.

I'm delighted that I got in early for Munster v Ulster and got great seats. Hopefully big Stu and Bobby Bal are playing for Ulster, as those lads were unbelievable for Ireland in this 6N.

Some of the stuff posted on here is tongue in cheek and some of it isn't.

For such a small nation, we've punched well above our weight. There was a time, where we couldn't buy a win against the Jocks. From 1989-2000, they beat us 11 times, with 1 draw in the 6 Nations.

How times have changed.
Long may it continue, fantastic considering our playing numbers and minority status behind GAA and soccer

Couldn't believe the Scotx haven't won it in 36 years. It's only our 15th national sport played by a couple of I Can't Believe It's Not Protestant schools.
