The Official Irish Rugby Thread

I think Premier Sports is worth supporting and it's not a mad outlay FWIW.

When is the team announced for this weekend, is it Thursday?
I onow you can't make whole sale changes but there should be a few.
Front row, Aherne, new backroom, Casey, Farrell, drop Lowe keep the other 2 lads.

Subs need to be newer faces with maybe Ringrose and Conan there as safe hands.

Because the IRFU decided to sail close to the wind with the RWC draw being based on the rankings following Ireland playing NZ, Oz, SA and Japan (thanks guys...), it's time for a rankings update.

Ireland have dropped a point as a result of the NZ loss, going from 89.83 to 88.85

The ones to watch are Argentina in 6th (unchanged at 83.82) and Australia in 7th (82.90, down from 83.30 last week)

Ireland won't get any points for beating Japan, there's too big a gap. They'd lose an enormous number of points if they lose though.

Got AI to model it:
Ireland beat Japan, lose by over 15 points to Australia and SA
Argentina beat Wales & scotland by over 15 points, lose to england by under 15 points,
Australia beat italy by over 15 points, lose to france by under 15 points

As a result of that, Ireland would drop to 6th in the world, only slightly above Argentina.

Basically Argentina need to draw with or England to overtake Ireland. If Australia were to be beaten by France by over 15 points and Argentina draw/beat England then they'd drop down to 7th.

I'd almost be tempted to break a habit of a lifetime and do an accumulator on that exact outcome of Argentina overtaking Ireland. It's unlikely, but not completely infeasible...

Nice one Frank. But don't do the bet, it's blood money.
