I almost completely agree. The Ireland management are at fault here and have created a rod for Prendergasts back, when they could have let him mature naturally over the coming years. Crowley is an all round better player currently and doesn't have to be minded in defence, which is the big problem with Prendergast. Better teams than England will get through on him, or work a move off him in defence.I think Irish management has been unfair to Prendergast, setting him up for failure. In the current environment, Munster fans are particularly sensitive about their representation, the best that could be expected is "yeah, he did ok" and any obvious mistakes or missing a tackle that led to a try would have led to him being attacked aggressively.
As it was, he did ok, pretty well when you consider his level of experience, but he's now got a load of vocal critics. Entirely avoidable by just having him on the bench...
