The Official Golf Thread

I’m a huge fan of his golf.
Outside of that he was very badly managed in my opinion. I don’t know who was responsible for that.
Even in his teens as an amateur there was negative stories doing the rounds about him, his attitude and cockiness. The “traditionalists” in Irish golf didn’t spare the prodigy that’s for sure.
In hindsight I think it might have had something to do with his background and not being from the typical in elite golfing circles.

I’m absolutely thrilled to see how it has all turned out for him and his Mam, Dad and extended family. They suffered enough. An inspirational story. As a traditionalist of my era I hope his marriage sustains and he goes on to have a spectacular 2nd half of his golf career and in whatever direction in life he wants now.
compared to Alex Higgins and George Best he’s no Craic at all..they set the bar high as Champions go from that part of the World …If Rory wants to be the Peoples Champion he needs to loosen up a bit..Be more like Alex…

Spieth the closest?
He's one of them, but I'd put Tom Watson as the closest, as he won the Masters, US Open and Open (the three hardest), but never the PGA, despite having a total of eight majors. Speith has also won those three, for a total of three majors, so he's quite a way down the list of players who've won three.

Tiger is the closet, held in all four at the same time, 2001 Masters with PGA and both Opens from 2000
