At the moment there are only 48 players allowed in the LIV format of 16 teams . When new players who are higher ranked in the world than than the present 48 join the lowest ranked were banned from previous tournaments.

At the end of 2023, the bottom four players in a point system will be relegated from LIV Golf, and new players will be added via a qualifying tournament.

There are a good few things about the format that I like. It doesn't change that I despise its whole raison d'être.

So Sergio joins LIV, fights to be able to still play the European Tour, shoots 76 in the opening round at Wentworth, withdraws when play is paused for a day, immediately flies across the Atlantic and is at College GameDay by noon EST on Saturday.
