The Official Financial Fair Play (FFP) Thread

Apparently City's defence is going to be that it wasn't Sheik Mansour putting the money in, it was the UAE government.

Well, that's that. We can all apologise now 😲

Tbh this is just very wealthy powerful people not getting their own way and being unused to dealing with it.
Howson aaying he thinks there's about a 20% chance this could work. Because wording matters.

Basically the sponsors applied to the UAE government for funding to complete their sponsorships to City, the UAE sent money to the sponsors, the sponsors sent the money to City, therefore the sponsors paid the money.

This is unbelievable bullshit, but, wording matters. Hopefully the appeal tribunal tells them to get fucked. But.....

💯 If that's their defence, considering that Mansour is part of the royal family that wields supreme executive power, despite not being voted for. The bould sheikh controls the UAE central bank, the Abu Dhabi national oil company, and two of the sovereign wealth funds of the UAE, as well as being a board member on another.

Any attempt to paint his money as entirely separate from the state's will be an exercise in semantics, and paper thin.

This is my fear - that they could maybe get off on a technicality. They might get some of the smaller charges thrown at them and it amount to a few fines etc but I do fear a technicality may get them off the more brutal consequences.

That would then open up a massive can of worms for the rules thereafter though. It would basically render the financial rules as useless and teams may as well just go rogue on it and forget the rules. The dignity of English football is on a knife-edge right now. The right thing has to be done.

No matter what the outcome here though, technicality or not, City have proven as fact to all and sundry that they are a complete fraud of a club. We all thought it but now we know it. Boycott them as if they don’t exist.
