She's required to take it into consideration. If she didn't, it would give him grounds for appeal.

Don’t really care what she has to take in consideration, prison being hard on someone should not be a consideration for a lesser sentence. Any judge that would allow an appeal on that basis sums my original statement, they are a pity.

It is a consideration though. Whether you approve or it or not.

You may not like it, but blaming the trial Judge ( or the appeal judge for that matter) for doing their job seems unreasonable.

greater level of degradation of the victim; or involves an abuse of trust,
attracts a sentence of 10 to 15 years before mitigating factors are taken
into consideration.

So was it was in the judges power to hand down a greater sentence ie 15 years and mitigate it by 1 to 14 ?.

One thing is for sure the young lady in question has got a life sentence of suffering ahead of her .

No, because it isn't at the highest level of assault. If he'd cut or stabbed her with the knife it would move itto 14/15 years.
