The official Cork and Irish Basketball thread.

Happy Christmas & a Happy New Year to All. Hopefully Cork Basketball gets back to the pinnacle across Men’s and Women’s and underage. Hearts in the right place from all the Volunteers giving up time but the players need to take the next step because we are slowly but surely losing the title as the Home of Basketball. Best of luck to Demons in the Cup Semi finals, Fancy them to beat Sligo by double digits down the Shed in the semis

Ballincollig dug deep to pull that one out Saturday thanks to Ciaran Sull rolling back the years with an impressive 20 points. FairPlay to him and the younger sibling for pulling them out of that! Demons never really had to come out of cruise control. Neptune in Big trouble lads. A gutless bunch if I’ve ever seen one. Been harping all year about how gutless and soft they are but going to an inform UCD side after Christmas and laying down like that is a total embarrassment. Not sure they will win another game this year in all honesty after a performance like that. I’m not here trying to rub salt in the wounds or anything like that just calling it how I see it. Made a comment on here also a few weeks back about the state of underage basketball in Cork. Very few players making U16/18 Irish panels and Cobh the only cork team that made it out of the group in the JC over the weekend is frightening. Where is it all going wrong?? Sad times ahead I’m afraid. Best of luck to Demons over the weekend, keep flying the Cork Flag.

Decent afternoon at the stadium. Great atmosphere and an unreal travelling support from Sligo

Demons pulled out to a 17 point lead in the first quarter. Sligo dragged them back to 6 but never really threatened and kinda fizzled out when they got I foul trouble late on.

Yer man Tillman is a fuckin unit, about as far removed from an athlete as you can imagine but good hands and decent under the post.

Kept the shackles on the Sligo yank well. He really only made hay when Tillman was sitting down. Sligo were shit off the line and it hurt them badly

Demons are formidable enough as a scoring team The other Yank Robinson was all work and the Christianson fella, who I presume is not Irish, was good too.

Blake Murphy did well on limited minutes, all action in fairness to him

Hosford is still the man though.

Best of luck to them in the final
