The official Cork and Irish Basketball thread.

I hate to be negative all the time but mother of jaysus….. Neptune should hang their head in shame after losing to that bunch at home Saturday. Shocking result major questions needed to be asked of those players. Last year the morale wasn’t there amongst the group what is the excuse going to be now??Could be a blessing in the skies considering they travel up there for the first round of cup. One in particular Neptune “Star” hasn’t performed in 2 years. Ballincollig with a major bounce back to hold a Maree team below 70… on the other hand demons players couldn’t even spell that dreaded D word…. Still early days but don’t see a Cork team competing for Silverware in the men’s or women’s this season.
Neptunes feel good vibes did take a knock at the weekend, maree not as good as they were either though.......

Da Village look to be in big trouble… maybe I personally got a little carried away over the Maree win last week. If they were going to sack the coach right now is time to do it with a break next week…. Downey looked back to his old self which was great to see for Neptune and their pros seemed to step it up when needed yesterday. Big win without Heaphy and Jaska… Defenseless Demons…. Brunell having admin issues again somebody may want to help out the committee up there. Mistakes happen but rumor has it sponsors are not happy.

Ballincollig looked shocking at the weekend. Their Americans are below par, looks like fellas haven’t bought in to the new system. Could all end in tears out there in MTU. From watching them in preseason I think the coach is wanting players to adapt to his system than vice versa. Ballincollig have a gauntlet fixture list coming up. They will have a new coach and yanks by the first round of the cup!! Neptune had a good win but shouldn’t be getting too carried away as they shot the lights out from 3 and Star were minus Fields. Demons undisciplined and leaderless at the moment. Won’t be Long before Hosford will need to come back and steady the ship. They have some talented players but don’t have a facilitator. Brunell will be in relegation form till Thornton comes back in the new year and she will keep them up. Glanmire looked poor but will be in the mix to win a trophy. Matthews big win but mid table at best. Blount couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn in his debut. Wonder how long they will put up with his shenanigans down there, we all know it won’t be his fault when it goes Boobies up!!
Collig yank sacked, coach be gone next. Predicted hosford be back… I know my stuff lads and lassies!!!

Can’t wait for Sunday afternoon. Neptune demons down the Mardyke. Both teams coming in full of confidence, it should be a cracker. Wasn’t able to make it out to MTU last night due to work commitments but was able to tune in on BI TV this morning. The 3 posters who are currently posting on this page probably think I’ve been extremely hard on Ballincollig the last few weeks but I will double down and say how poor they have been. Without Cairns they would have been beaten out the door. In the past Ballincollig members/ founding fathers would cry and winge about Neptune/demons not producing homegrown players but apart from the Sullivan’s and one of them is on his very last legs who have they brought through as Superleague players…. Corkery not in this coaches plans, Ronan doing well infairness, Adrian is a backup and oldest Sullivan is a 20 min max player if he’s hitting a few shots but is playing about 30+ at the moment. They brought in a Spanish coach who hasn’t got results. They are struggling to score the basketball all year long. 2 yanks, another pro, Cairns and Kieran sull starting. Adrian and Ronan’s off the bench, Matthews kid getting a few mins here and there. Ballincollig are in big trouble lads. They will survive this year because of how poor the two bottom feeder teams are but it won’t be long before they are out of the league. Now Back to the big showdown on Sunday, If Neptune are healthy I expect a win but if not demons by 4!

Neptune’s bubble well and truly BURST
They are a gutless bunch if I’ve ever seen one. Saw the chairman down the Dyke from a distance last week and he looked horrified. Hes put in tremendous work and the senior players down there should be ashamed to wear the jersey. On there day they can compete with the top tier but too many maybe men on that team to be consistent. Wouldnt surprise me if they get a cup run but I’ll tell you ladies and gents one thing the league is F****d top to bottom. Saw the Irish team released on Twitter the other night…. You name the names and I’ll break it down for you in a polite fashion. Fellas are amateur players at the end of the day but Christ what a farce.
