The Official Celtic Thread

BBC have done a thing with former Ref Stuart Dougal where he explains why VAR was used correctly throughout Scottish football yesterday, including a laughable handball in the Livingston Vs Motherwell game.

Goldson had his hands on the ball inside the box 4 times yesterday. None of which were deemed penalties. He's handled the ball inside the penalty box 6 times in the last 3 games. Same player, same club, same result.

The penalty awarded to Sevco is never in a million years awarded at the other end.

VAR working just as anticipated.

You'd think it wouldn't be quite so blatant though 😅

The old Rangers were caught blatantly cheating. They suffered no consequences for it and nearly every commentator just wanted to pretend it never happened.

The ref caught lying - denying Celtic a penalty (obvs), Dougie McDonald is responsible for referee development in Scotland.

Hugh Dallas, who was Head of refereeing in Scotland was sacked over his sectarian emails.

Jim Farry delayed the transfer of Cadete for 6 games costing Celtic the title (in part)

The sinister minister Mike McCurry playing loyalist anthems at his Sunday services

Refs boozing in pubs of their favourite team on the night of a game after screwing Celtic

Refs attending Rangers functions regaling the revellers with stories of how they fucked Celtic over.

Fuck all ever happens, they can be as blatant as they want about it....And yet Andy Walker was on the wireless last night saying he didn't believe there was corruption in Scottish football.

They don't have to cover it up. They get away with it in plain sight. The advent of the VAR lodge was never gonna change anything.

2019 was the last penalty against them at home.
2019 was the last time they had a man sent off at home.

It's a piss take

And Andy Walker has a vested interest in portraying Scottish football as not being corrupt given that he's making his money commentating on it. Even other commentators accept the logic of Refs having to state their club allegiance, as they do in England for instance, so that they don't ref matches that involves their favourite club. Andy Walker didn't seem to be in favour of even that. In the past refs could actually apply to ref particular games in Scotland. That's how open to abuse it's been. And some subsequently bragged of how they'd done Rangers FC favours as refs.

And Walker's "there can't be any corruption because Celtic have dominated the Scottish game over the last decade" type excuse is risible. Celtic have dominated in Scotland DESPITE some atrocious refereeing decisions aiding one opponent club in particular, not because Celtic have benefited over the piece from refereeing decisions.

I saw an interesting review of penalty awards online

Penalty differentials for dominant teams over the last six seasons:
Real Madrid +15
Barcelona +12
Bayern +10
PSG +22
Juventus +6
Celtic +8

Rangers +33

One wonders how the red cards count would go as well.

Plod confiscated an assortment of weapons from the so called Union Bears prior to the match last weekend at ibrox. The haul included wheel braces, clubs, a hammer and so on. Very little about it in the media or from The Rangers FC - imagine the outrage had that been The Green Brigade.

And while on the topic of outrage when Kyogo scored a goal against Hearts that might or might not have been off-side (still inconclusive) Head of Referee Operations at the Scottish FA Crawford Allan complained publicly.

Not a word from him regarding multiple strange decisions going the way of the The Rangers FC. Funny that.

Celtic 'contact SFA over Crawford Allan comments in wake of Hearts match'

Celtic have expressed their dissatisfaction to the Scottish Football Association over comments made by referees chief Crawford Allan in the wake of their 1-0 win over Hearts, according to reports.

Allan conducted an interview on BBC Radio Sportsound last weekend, saying that Kyogo Furuhashi’s goal was “probably offside” and intimated that referee Bobby Madden made an error of judgement when stopping play while Hearts were on the attack due to Jota’s hamstring injury.
The Daily Mail claims that Celtic were taken aback by Crawford’s public comments and that they have been in touch with the SFA to make their feelings known.

In his radio interview, Allan said: “I’ve said all along since I’ve been in this role — I’ll support my referees and I’ll come out and say if there’s an error as well.

"On Kyogo, is he in front of the defender? Yes, he probably is.

“You’ve then got to look at the angle of the ball and the speed of it in real time, and it is very, very tight. So it’s an understandable decision.”
