The Official Celtic Thread

I’ve yet to encounter a Celtic fan complaining that Keane didn’t get the job. The only ones who seem annnoyed about it are fans of other teams wanting to use it as a stick to beat Celtic fans with. 🙄

In other news, the Huns are rumoured to be dropping the playing of “Simply The Best” welcoming their players onto the pitch. 🤣

Some of the abuse he was getting was posted up on line. And it was well out of order. It was posted by fellow-Israelis condemning him for continuing to play for Celtic given the amount of Palestinian Flags amongst the Celtic support. The vast vast majority of the Celtic support have always welcomed him as a player becuase he's done well for us. And Nir Biton before him.

Think he's a talented footballer and we could certainly have done with him but he's head's clearly not been in it for quite a while now. TBH I can't see us getting as much as 10M for him from a US team. You just never know what's going to crop up in life and the knock on affect it can have elsewhere.
Soundy you are full of shit.

Sad to see an Israeli player go, but Robbie Keane is tainted because he spent a year working in Israel.

Keane spent time working in Israel for one of the most racist clubs there and then tried to claim that he had no choice but carry on irrespective of the Genocide being carried on by the Israelis.

Even the Celtic Board, who don't usually have the wishes of Celtic fans high up in their list of priorities, knew that appointing Keane to the Celtic job would’ve been beyond the pale for too many Celtic fans for it to be sustainable.

Don’t know why you’re getting so upset about it. Is it that you think Keane won’t get a gig elsewhere?

I was just pointing out the hypocrisy of making Keane a persona non grata for working in Israel for a year and then lamenting an Israeli player leaving the club.

Either all connections to Israel should be ignored due to the fact neither are actually partaking in the slaughter or they are both guilty by association. Yet it is only Keane who is the villain here.

You're normally a great poster Soundy but I think sometimes you let your emotions get in the way of logic, ie Ababa playing well for Celtic let's forget about the genocide, Keane untried at Celtic let's make the genocide an issue.

I think Keane would’ve been better than Nancy but not as good as MON so I’m quite happy with MON

Keane being appointed would’ve made the atmosphere already poor, absolutely toxic between fans and board. Hopefully the rejection of the notion of Keane will be the first steps to reconciliation.

Think the longer term strategy may be to have MON mentoring Maloney, Fotheringham, McManus etc this coming season and then hand over the reins of the first team next season for MON to then go into the Board 🙏

There'll need to be some joined-up thinking and planning so that players identified now, and we do need a rebuild, can be used in the system for a couple of years at least.

Maeda and Hatate are out the door soon, Walsh is going to Swansea I'm told. The loanees will all go or return and we'll hopefully be able to move on the peripheral players like balaquisha etc. I'd punt Tunetki tbh. Not sure on how Jota is doing but we also urgently need a keeper in

I'm not so sure consideration of the fans was uppermost in Desmond's thoughts when electing not to proceed with Keane.

Either way, it's done with for now and we can get back to being disgruntled with the lazy incompetents.

I’m hopeful they’ve seen what pulling together can achieve.
Were it not for appointing Nancy we could’ve had yet another Treble
