I'm not necessarily saying that the betting industry are a great bunch of lads, but they don't make shit up as they go along either. Or, at least, if they try to, without covering themselves legally, they'll have IBAS or the UKGC imposing financial penalties.

The whole thing is a big game, and you have to play it right.

This guy was obviously giving off red flags that he wouldn't dare tweet about because it wouldn't suit the auld "woe is me" agenda.
It's complete bollocks.

It's a free game ffs.

The UKGC insist that any account that's identified as a safer/problem/responsible (take your pick) gambling risk is to be immediately exempt from receiving any promotions, including ones that are in-play.

You can say it's bollocks or whatevs, but it's fact.

This lad has gone on twitter to bemoan his luck with that particular competition, and we all would feel a bit robbed, to be fair.

However, what we don't know is what triggered his safer gambling red flag.

He may have been on the piss, done a few lines, and logged on to WH at 3am to blow his load on Casino or Aussie racing.

There's an element of self-control that's the responsibility of the account holder.

People can't have it both ways going mad about Tony10 or Paul Merson and then going mad when companies restrict people in this day and age to protect against that happening at source.

Didn't know that.

UKGC are idiots so.

I wouldn't put it past WH to restrict a winner and put it down as a gambling harm restriction. I know for a fact one bookmaker did it to me <cough live score cough> and I suspect a couple more did too.

WH are easily one of the two worst betting companies I've ever dealt with. Unibet being the other.

Look, the whole thing is fairly messy.

The industry itself is to blame for where things are now, no doubt.

It was the wild west for about 20 years of the early internet age, firms acted very irresponsibly and got away with a lot, and now it's regulated to within an inch of its life as compliance, safer gambling measures, AML measures, etc have really come to the fore since just before covid hit.

Who knows where it goes from here, but people need to be aware of how to keep themselves in the game for the immediate future.

Don't be a degenerate and don't do things that look like money laundering or fraud of some sort, and you'll be grand for the most part.

PSG are 3/1 to beat Bayern in 90mins on Weds.

I know they don't need to win, but it's not really their style to sit back and dog it out. Even if they do play a little more conservatively they remain a big threat on the break.
